SINGAPORE – The Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) have established a Joint Lab in Social and Human-Centred Computing to build globally competitive research capabilities for Singapore to address people-centric issues in the human health and potential, and the urban solutions and sustainability domains.

SINGAPORE, 20 April 2022 (Wednesday) – Lim Hoon Foundation (LHF), a private charitable trust of the JL Family Office (JLFO), has made an endowed contribution of $3 million to establish the JLFO-LHF Scholarship (the Scholarship) at the Singapore Management University (SMU). The bond-free Scholarship aims to support undergraduates with demonstrated financial needs to achieve academic excellence and to recognise them for their accomplishments in student life and towards community outreach.

Singapore, 13 April 2022 (Wednesday) – Singapore Management University (SMU)’s Yong Pung How School of Law (YPHSL) reached the finals of the 63rd Philip C. Jessup Law Moot Court Competition (also known as the Jessup), held between 25 March and 10 April.  In addition to championship final positions in 2013 and 2014, this is the third time SMU has taken the 1st runner-up spot in less than 10 years, despite being the youngest law school in the competition.   • First-of-its-kind study by SMU’s Lien Centre for Social Innovation (LCSI) determines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on food insecurity in Singapore
  • Over the course of the pandemic, a significant 20% of previously food-insecure households are now deemed food secure
  • It should also be noted that the food security of 10.2% of households worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • This study also explored the impact of autonomy in food support through an intervention element
