Singapore, 2 March 2021 (Tuesday) – Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) and Singapore Management University (“SMU”) are pleased to jointly announce new appointment holders of the SMU Advisory Board for the Real Estate Programme, which provides industry insights into evolving industry trends and strategic inputs for SMU’s Real Estate Track including the curriculum and research initiatives.

Singapore, 19 February 2021 (Friday) – Fresh graduates from Singapore Management University’s (SMU) 17th cohort have registered healthy and stable overall employment, with 93.9% of them employed and commanding good starting salaries across all six of the university’s degree programmes.

The results were revealed in the annual Joint Autonomous Universities Graduate Employment Survey (JAUGES), jointly conducted by SMU and the other Autonomous Universities.

78.4% or 1,476 of the 1,883 SMU alumni who graduated in 2020 took part in the survey.

SINGAPORE, 18 February 2021 (Thursday) – The Business Innovations Generator (BIG) Incubation Programme offered by the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) at the Singapore Management University (SMU) has unveiled 23 new startups accepted into its first cohort for 2021 at its kick-off event on 8 February 2021 at The Greenhouse, located at SMU’s newest building, SMU Connexion. Singapore, 30 December 2020 (Wednesday) – Past and present staff of Vitol Asia have come together to make an endowed gift of $14 million to set up the Ian R. Taylor Memorial Fund (IRT-MF) at the Singapore Management University (SMU) in honour and memory of the late Mr Ian Roper Taylor  (7 February 1956 – 8 June 2020).  Mr Taylor was the former chief executive and chairman of the Vitol Group who transformed the small Dutch fuel merchant into the global commodities powerhouse that it is today.

SINGAPORE, 22 December 2020 (Tuesday) – Singapore is ranked second[1] among developed nations with the highest proportion of diabetics in its population. An average of four[2] diabetic-related foot amputations are performed every day and 1,500[3] of such amputations are carried out annually. 25%[4] of diabetic patients will develop foot ulcers in their lifetime, and 50% of those patients suffer from peripheral arterial disease.

Singapore, 21 December 2020 (Monday) – Older adults refer to those aged 55 to 75, a demographic in Singapore that is expanding exponentially. The Singapore Management University (SMU)’s Centre for Research on Successful Ageing (ROSA) published a series of research briefs which examine the importance of social integration for well-being among older adults across several contexts, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, in terms of their political participation, and finally in terms of their social networks.
