During a conference organised by Dentons Rodyk and SMU on 9 September 2025, SMU Chairman Piyush Gupta said in a keynote address that while Singapore’s equity market is “lagging behind” its regional peers, the local bourse should not focus on merely catching up but instead aim to “leapfrog” ahead by leveraging technology. The event, titled “The Future of Capital Markets: Navigating Change in Singapore and Beyond”, also featured several other speakers, including Pol de Win, Head of Global Sales and Origination at Singapore Exchange (SGX) Group, and SMU Associate Professor of Law Aurelio Gurrea-Martínez.
