SMU Academy and SuperCharger Ventures introduce programme that addresses AI's transformative impact on education

Singapore and London, 31 January 2024 (Wednesday) – SMU Academy, the professional training arm of Singapore Management University, and SuperCharger Ventures, the world’s largest Edtech-only accelerator, today announced the launch of the 'Advanced Certificate in Innovative Educational Technologies' programme.  Jointly designed by SMU Academy and SuperCharger Ventures, and taught by leading academics and industry practitioners, this programme directly addresses the transformative impact of AI in education, and is aligned with Singapore's National AI Strategy and the National Edtech Masterplan 2030.

Designed for a wide range of professionals including educators, tech enthusiasts and organisational leaders, the Advanced Certificate programme scheduled to commence on 18 March 2024, enables a shift in educational methodologies in Singapore, which focuses on the purposeful use of technology in learning and teaching. With a rapidly evolving landscape and a global trend of educational institutions worldwide implementing AI in teaching and learning, understanding the technology and acquiring AI skills are crucial for educators. The programme seeks to support greater customisation of learning for students and elevate the professional practice of teachers by enhancing their knowledge and capabilities in integrating AI into teaching.

Comprising six modules, the curriculum covers AI and Edtech fundamentals, practical applications of AI tools in education, and the development of customised Edtech solutions. It addresses the current skills gap by offering participants insights from experts and leaders in the educational field from various continents, including Australia, Europe and North America.

Jack Lim, Executive Director, SMU Academy, said, "This programme is a testament to our commitment to not only respond to the evolving educational landscape but also actively influence it. We want to equip educators in Singapore with current tools and collaborate with them to pioneer innovative approaches in learning and teaching through the integration of AI and Edtech."

Alessandro Di Lullo, Co-Founder, SuperCharger Ventures, adds, “This collaboration with SMU Academy marks a significant milestone in our mission to foster innovation in education. We believe this programme will be a game-changer for professionals seeking to make a substantial impact in the education world by leveraging EdTech and AI technologies.”
