SMU yesterday announced a new Global Impact Scholarship Award. The scholarship, which is worth more than $120,000, will be awarded to 40 Singaporean freshmen from the forthcoming academic year. The scholarship covers undergraduate tuition fees, living allowance, computer allowance and a global learning opportunities worldwide grant, as well as an optional Masters tuition grant worth up to $40,000. Scholars have the option to gain work experience after graduating from their undergraduate studies, and return to the university within five years to pursue their postgraduate degree. They will also get to co-design and participate in an overseas community service project, visit companies abroad, participate in one term of overseas exchange, and take bespoke SMU-X courses. Global Impact Scholars will take three SMU-X courses specially developed for them. Through this robust curriculum, the University hopes that scholars will gain a global perspective, and develop strong leadership and adaptability skills.
