SMU Associate Professor of Political Science John Donaldson led a study on the needs of the elderly in Singapore which was featured in the Lien Centre for Social Innovation Report. The study found that only certain types of social networks have a big impact on mental wellness. The report also found that people with disabilities who are working in sheltered employment are largely underpaid, and about 14 unemployed single parents polled said that their unemployment was due mainly to the inability to find childcare help.
