SMU has provided over 200 financial aid schemes to students, giving them the peace of mind and freedom to pursue the education they deserve. These schemes include the Tuition Fee Loan, SMU Education Loan, SMU Financial Grant and SMU Work-Study Grant. SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer is of the view that no deserving student should be denied an education due to financial difficulty. SMU also awards more than 800 scholarships per year, with an average of one in 11 freshmen attaining such scholarships, to ensure that students are rewarded for their efforts and accomplishments. Two prestigious scholarships offered by SMU with no bond requirement include the Lee Kong Chian and SMU Scholars' Programmes.
