Twenty-three-year-old SMU graduate Shitij Nigam set up a Humans of Singapore Facebook page after being inspired by the Humans of New York webpage that captured stories of ordinary New Yorkers. Since setting up the page, he has been going to various parts of Singapore, taking photos of ordinary Singaporeans and asking them to share their stories. These are captured and uploaded onto the page alongside the photos he has taken of them. Nigam, an Indian national, is currently working as an information systems analyst in a consultancy. He won a scholarship to study in SMU in 2008.
