Singapore, 19 May 2011 (Wednesday) – In response to rapid changes in the legal landscape and the increasing demands faced by lawmakers and legal practitioners, Singapore Management University (SMU) is launching the new SMU LLM (Master of Laws) by coursework programme.

The 12-month modular programme is designed to equip legal practitioners with the skills and knowledge to meet the changing needs of an increasingly complex global market.

The programme comprises specialisations in three niche areas: Commercial Law, Dispute Resolution and Islamic Law and Finance.

Singapore, 11 May 2011 (Wednesday) – The Institute of Service Excellence at the Singapore Management University (ISES) ( 卓越服务研究所 ) announces the first quarter release of the Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore (CSISG) 2011 for two sectors: Retail and Info-Communications. The Retail sector continued on an upward trend with a significant increase of 2.4 points over 2010 to its highest-ever score of 70.6 points this year.

Singapore, Friday, 15 April 2011 – The Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology (SIOP) has conferred the prestigious award of Elected Fellow of the SIOP to Professor David Chan ( 陈振中 ), Deputy Provost and Professor of Psychology of the Singapore Management University (SMU) for his outstanding contributions to the science and practice of psychology. Professor Chan is also Director of the Behavioural Sciences Institute at SMU.

SINGAPORE 24 March 2011 – Singapore Management University (SMU) today announced that it is working with New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Technologies, the global commercial technology unit of NYSE Euronext, to develop educational labs for hands-on experiences with trading processes and technologies. Students of SMU's Master of IT in Business (Financial Services) programme will be trained in designing, using and managing the technology infrastructure that powers trading across global financial markets and stock exchanges.

Singapore, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 – The Singapore Management University has received an endowed gift of S$500,000 from the Dubai oil and gas group, Emirates National Oil Company LLC (ENOC). In recognition of ENOC's generosity, SMU has named in perpetuity a Seminar Room at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business after the company. The gift, which will go towards student and faculty development, attracts a 1:1 matching by the Singapore government for SMU's endowment.

Singapore, 21 March 2011 (Monday) – In response to the steady demand for senior communication professionals in this region, the Singapore Management University launches a new Master in Communication Management. This programme is offered in collaboration with Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland, which runs the world renowned programme in corporate communication, and their partner, the UCLA Anderson School of Management in the US.

Singapore, 21 March 2011 (Monday) – Riding on the wave of the economic recovery, the Singapore Management University's (SMU) 2010 graduates have achieved a record employment rate 1 of 99.9% and higher starting salaries 2 across five of the university's degree programmes 3 , surpassing the performance of the 2009 graduates (96.8%) and 2008 graduates (95.9%).

SINGAPORE – Singapore Management University (SMU) and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, USA, have teamed up to establish the Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC). The Centre will develop new techniques to acquire data on consumer and social behavior and pioneer new approaches to analyse such data to develop applications and methods that will benefit consumers, businesses and society.
