Jack Lim, Executive Director of SMU Academy, said lifelong learning is about aligning skills with real industry needs, not just attending courses. He noted that SMU Academy designs stackable, modular programmes — from short courses to advanced certificates and degrees — to equip learners with future-ready capabilities while allowing them to continue working. Developed in partnership with government and industry, the programmes support reskilling, career growth and organisational capability building. Mr Lim added that as digital and AI-related roles evolve rapidly, individuals must proactively close skills gaps and demonstrate applied competencies, while training must remain timely, relevant and closely linked to real job opportunities.
