
A team of five SMU law students triumphed over 805 teams from 104 jurisdictions to win the prestigious Philip C. Jessup international law moot court competition, marking the first victory for a Singapore team in 24 years. One of the team members, Erica Wee, was also recognised as the best oralist of the competition. The team was guided by SMU Assistant Professor of Law Nicholas Liu and Juris Doctor student Fu Qiyuan. SMU Associate Professor of Law Chen Siyuan, who is also Associate Dean (Student and Alumni Affairs) and Director of the Ian R Taylor International Moots Programme, commended the students for their resilience, noting the significance of SMU's first win in this competition.
