A team of five undergraduates from SMU’s Yong Pung How School of Law (YPHSL) represented Singapore in a prestigious international moot court competition and clinched the championship – marking the country’s fifth win and the first-ever championship title for SMU. Team member Erica Wee was awarded the “Best Oralist” title for her outstanding advocacy skills. This win is especially significant as it is SMU’s first-ever championship in this competition. Since first entering the competition in 2013, SMU’s law school had reached the finals four times (2013, 2014, 2022, and 2025). SMU Associate Professor of Law Chen Siyuan, who oversees the development and training of SMU’s mooting teams as Director of SMU’s Ian R. Taylor International Moots Programme said “After nearly 25 years, it’s incredible to finally bring the trophy back to Singapore! This team of five talented young women has shown extraordinary resilience. Since 2022, they’ve been training and competing in numerous moot court competitions. They knew their mission — to bring pride to Singapore — and they’ve fulfilled it.”
