SMU Associate Professor of Law Dorcas Quek Anderson, a former district judge, and 63 other former justices’ law clerks paid tribute to former Chief Justice Dr Yong Pung How by contributing to a chapter in the book, titled Pioneer, Polymath And Mentor: The Life And Legacy Of Yong Pung How. Assoc Prof Quek recalled how Dr Yong played an instrumental role in her foray into academia by taking the time to read the first article she wrote for submission to a law journal. The book, which details Dr Yong’s career milestones, was written, compiled and edited by Senior Judge Andrew Phang, who is also Distinguished Professor at SMU’s Yong Pung How School of Law. Officiating the book launch held at SMU on 11 April 2024, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong recalled his childhood encounters with Dr Yong, who was close friends with his father, founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
