Through a novel combination of machine learning, artificial intelligence and optimisation algorithms, SMU Associate Professor of Information Systems Pradeep Varakantham and his team along with SMU Professor of Information Systems Lau Hoong Chuin have developed the Dynamic Resource Optimisation (DRO) platform. DRO is being used by the Singapore Civil Defence Force to not only reduce response times but also determine the ideal placement of base stations at which to situate ambulances.
