SMU is a winner of the Energy Efficient National Partnership Awards 2016 (EENP Awards) in the category of Excellence in Energy Management. The EENP Awards is organised by the National Environment Agency, the Energy Market Authority and the Economic Development Board. By installing 200 power meters that monitor energy consumption and 700 motion sensors in its rooms and walkways, SMU has been able to reduce energy consumption by 33 per cent and save $2 million worth of energy over the last nine years.
