For their commitment and the impact that they have made to Singapore’s tertiary education sector, it was announced that 12 SMU faculty and staff would receive the 2016 National Day Awards in recognition of their outstanding performance.  They were among 3,959 individuals in 19 award categories to receive the awards this year.

The Public Administration Medal winners including Professor David Chan, Professor Annie Koh, Associate Professor Michelle Cheong and Associate Professor Michelle Lee will receive their medals from the President of Singapore Dr Tony Tan in early November.

The remaining eight award winners – Mr Ang Ser Keng, Ms Shelley Chan, Mr Lee Yeow Leong, Ms Elain Sim, Ms Tan Gek Cheng, Ms Nur Azlina Binte Abdullah, Ms Angela Lim and Ms Tan Yee Yee – will receive their medals from Ag Minister (Higher Education and Skills) Mr Ong Ye Kung in the later part of November.

SMU President, Professor Arnoud De Meyer, said, “The Singapore National Day Awards recognise various forms of merit and service to Singapore, and I’m heartened that each year, we have a group of SMU faculty and staff who are being acknowledged for their dedication and service.”

“To all the SMU recipients, my heartiest congratulations, and I look forward to your continuous and outstanding contribution,” he added.
