SMU third-year law undergraduate Lee Shu Xian competed in the women's 470 event at the Qingdao leg of the International Sailing Federation World Cup together with her partner Priscilla Low on September 19. They finished 13th in a 16-strong fleet and earned Singapore a berth at next year’s Rio de Janeiro Games. This is the first time Singapore has qualified outright in the women's 470 class for the Olympics. Ms Lee said she has planned to take time off her studies to focus on the Olympic campaign.
