About 100 Housing Board flats in Marine Parade are being installed with sensors as part of a pilot project initiated by SMU. SMU School of Information Systems (SIS) research programme manager Elina Yu said that when fully operational, the sensors will be able to check ambient air quality and trigger an alert if a person has left the gas on for too long. SIS is helping to devise the technology for the project, with similar projects also under way at NTU.
