Global real-time payments are finally pulling into the station – 40 years late

SMU Professor of Information Systems Robert Kauffman, a panellist at the Swift Business Forum this week, said that real-time payments “innovation” is simply capitalising on advances that first appeared four decades ago. He noted that countries with a strong mobile infrastructure are catching up fast, including Mexico and Australia. Prof Kauffman added that good predictive analytics are needed to detect fraudulent payments and that they are trying to understand the precursors for security problems.
