SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that the Workers’ Party (WP) is now suffering from “reputational damage” over the financial mismanagement allegations plaguing the Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council. He added that the lapses were “of serious concern”, but that it is too early to say how the case would affect the WP’s fortunes in the next General Election as this would depend on how the WP goes about getting its house in order.
