Retail investors start young

The SMU EYE Investment Club has recruited more than 400 new members this year, exceeding the usual intake of about 360. Some students join the club to familiarise themselves for a potential career in the financial industry, but for many, they come to find out how to manage their savings. Though the main concern is not having enough capital to invest, the club provides them with the knowledge to start young. EYE Investment Club President Aaron Choo said, “We do weekly research meetings where we teach fundamental analysis as well as technical analysis, and along the side, we also do workshops as well as networking sessions and panel discussions with leading financial industry professionals, so as to give our students hands-on experience to help them along with their education.”
