At the inaugural Straits Times Education Forum held on Sunday at SMU, Education Minister Heng Swee Keat stressed that it is every parent’s and education worker’s responsibility to develop a child’s potential to the fullest. He said that although it is important for children to build a good academic foundation, parents should pay even more attention to their children’s holistic development. Parents should thus help their children develop good conduct, acquire the right values and learn to manage their emotions, so that they will also have intangible assets.
