Sui Yi Siong and Christian Teo were the SMU representatives in the final of the 2014 edition of this competition, which was judged by Justice Vinodh Coomaraswamy, Associate Professor Eleanor Wong, and Ms Blossom Hing. The problem concerned a Balinese farmer girl-turned big time singer, who was accused of murdering her adoptive father, a haemophiliac, by cutting him on the elbow and letting him bleed to death.
The case turned on circumstantial evidence because the only thing tying the accused to the crime was her presence at the time of death, and a knife that belonged to her. Yi Siong emerged 1st-runner-up while Christian was joint 2nd-runner-up.
