SMU Vice President, Business Development & External Relations, Associate Professor Annie Koh said, "If Asian managers don’t get opportunities to head the units at MNCs, the risks are high that this talent will get poached”. She added, “At the same time, you don’t want to run the risks of putting someone at the top echelon when he or she is not ready”. Associate Prof Koh was commenting on the trend of banks and companies across Asia putting local employees on a fast track to senior roles to counter a dearth of management expertise in the region and to deter staff from being poached by rivals.
