'Rusty' yip still claims silver

SMU undergraduate, Yip Pin Xiu took part in the International Paralympic Committee World Swimming Championship women’s 50m backstroke S3 event, and emerged second. She had held the world record for this event with a 56.62sec effort set in Tokyo in 2009. Suffering from muscular dystrophy, Pin Xiu started competitive swimming in the S5 category, but dropped to S3 due to the challenges of juggling school work and training.
