According to a MetaSport report, very few local educational institutions are encouraging youths to explore alternative sports. "Underwater Hockey is a team sport that is not played in local education institutes, with the exception of SMU," laments Stirling Underwater Hockey Club’s vice-president and electrical engineer, Lee Wai Meng.
