Singapore is now reportedly the biggest source of foreign investment in Iskandar Malaysia, with the area hogging headlines last week as Singapore and Malaysia’s Prime Ministers launched multi-billion dollar projects. SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that the recent announcements of the joint projects boosted confidence as “the signals from the governments (were) unequivocal”. However, he expressed concern that “the risk is that the two governments do not cooperate to seek mutual benefit”.
