On the White Paper on Population,  SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that the Government would need to put in a lot of effort to convince citizens to accept the fact that the population is going to grow by 1.6 million in 17 years. Assistant Prof Tan said that the paper failed to explain how the expected population growth was derived. While these policies would ultimately benefit Singaporeans, the citizens might not have the patience to await the outcome.
