Most political analysts felt that there is still a long way to go for Singapore to become a two-party state. SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented that the Workers’ Party (WP) is gradually moving east. If it wins over Joo Chiat and East Coast in the next election, Singapore would then be much closer to achieving a two-party system.
