SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented that since the last election, the Workers’ Party (WP) has focused its attention on Aljunied GRC, and was not very active in Punggol East. He added that WP got an astounding 13% increase in votes just 20 months from the last election, a result which surely would have surprised the party as well.
