On the Punggol East by-election, SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that in order to recapture the hearts of people, the People’s Action Party (PAP) would need to seriously rethink their policies and not just make minor changes to them, so as to prove to the people that their policies have indeed changed their lives. Assistant Prof Tan added that Punggol East has never been a safe seat for PAP even in the last elections. Some voters also felt that voting for the Workers’ Party would allow them to enjoy the benefits from both parties.
