SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented that the low-profile campaign adopted by People’s Action Party (PAP) candidate Koh Poh Koon was based on his desire to fight his own campaign, and to highlight his focus on local issues. However, in order to show voters that the PAP takes the election seriously Assistant Prof Tan was of the opinion that a key PAP member would likely be present during the weekend rally. As for WP’s strategy, he said that it was demonstrating its strong desire to win the election.
