Punggol East’s Snap Election

SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan pointed out that the snap election shows that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong placed more importance on the welfare of Punggol East residents and hoped that they would have a representative in Parliament. Assistant Prof Tan also commented that this might be a way of renewing the trust Punggol East residents have in the PAP. As there is insufficient time for the opposition parties to work the ground, the likelihood of a multi-cornered fight is high.
