A report by HR firm Randstad said that a majority of Singapore employees expect a pay rise next year. Most employees said that their companies did well this year, despite global economic challenges, but economists said that this optimism could be seasonal. SMU Associate Professor of Finance and Vice President, Business Development & External Relations, Annie Koh said that the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Government have tried to moderate expectations in light of the uncertain economic outlook. “But [the issue] is not being looked at right now because of the end-of-the-year mood…so the expectations are actually quite high,” she said.
