Palmer confesses to extramarital affair in writing to PM Lee

On Michael Palmer’s resignation over his affair, SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that although this incident has put PAP in a negative light, Palmer’s clear explanation for resigning also showed PAP’s strong stand on such issues. Assistant Prof Tan was of the view that the PAP had no other way of handling the issue due to Yaw Shin Leong’s previous incident. This also meant that a by-election could be in the works for Punggol East.
