The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), which has been supporting Singapore Management University (SMU) students through the AmCham-SMU Scholarship since 2004, has given a further $16,500 to SMU for the advancement of education. The gift was presented to SMU on 21 November 2012 at the sold-out AmCham-Allied Pickfords Thanksgiving Day Golf Tournament, which was attended by more than 140 senior business leaders.
The AmCham Scholarship has, to date, supported nine SMU business students and spurred them to achieve academic excellence.
“We have been very impressed with the calibre of the AmCham-SMU Scholars. SMU is an ideal partner for our Scholarship Programme as both AmCham and SMU share a common interest in promoting the understanding of business issues locally and abroad. The AmCham-SMU Scholarship is an initiative that the Chamber is proud to have established. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with SMU to groom more talents with excellent character, leadership qualities and strong business acumen,” said James Andrade, Chair, AmCham-SMU Scholarship Committee.
Each year, the Scholarship is awarded to one local, full-time Bachelor of Business Management undergraduate who has demonstrated academic excellence, high co-curricular achievements, excellent leadership qualities and character, as well as an interest in business.
