SMU Assistant Professor of Asian Studies Hoon Chang Yau discussed issues concerning the ethnic identity and culture of Indonesian Chinese, and commented that diversity and class played a part in the formation of their heterogeneous self-identify. "Ethnic Chinese in Indonesia is never a homogenous group," he said.
