SMU President Arnoud De Meyer and Provost and Deputy President (Academic Affairs) Rajendra K Srivastava hosted a convivial dinner recently to congratulate the winners of this year’s Teaching Excellence Awards, Lee Kuan Yew Fellowship for Research Excellence and Sing Lun Fellowships.
Innovative pedagogy and cutting-edge research are fundamental parts of SMU’s strategic goals and the significance of these awards to the University was evident as several Deans and senior faculty across the six schools, as well as the Directors of institutes, centres, labs and initiatives were all there to recognise the outstanding achievements of the award recipients.
“You truly deserve our admiration and respect,” said Professor De Meyer in his address, “But beyond this, we also celebrate the collective enthusiasm, commitment and effort of everyone that is bringing SMU to ever higher levels of teaching and research excellence”.
