The long running debate on what is proper attire for tertiary students flared up again last week, when some Republic Polytechnic students were warned that they could be banned from lectures. The one tertiary institution that does not have any rules on attire for students believes that they respect the freedom given to them. SMU's Dean of Students, Associate Professor Low Aik Meng, said: ?We treat them as young adults and we grant them freedom in choice of dressing.? Final-year SMU student KeJia Jiang, appreciates the trust his school places in students to dress properly.
