Singapore, 26 January (Wednesday) 2022 – The Business Families Institute at Singapore Management University (BFI@SMU) today launched the BFI@SMU Research Report on “The Growing Ecosystem of Wealth Management in Singapore: Lenses on the External Asset Manager”. The report, believed to be the first of its kind, is one of the thought leadership pieces supported by a research grant from Sino Suisse Capital Pte Ltd on emerging investment strategies of business families targeted at building capabilities for the external asset management industry in Singapore.

Singapore, 25 January 2022 (Tuesday) – A new study by SMU’s Centre for Research on Successful Ageing (ROSA) revealed that nearly 1 in 3 of Singapore’s older adults surveyed in October 2021 did not feel mentally prepared for living with an endemic COVID-19. Older adults who did not trust the government’s response to the COVID-19 situation in Singapore were four times more likely to feel unprepared.

Singapore, 24 January 2022 (Monday) – The Singapore Management University’s (SMU) teaching case on sustainability scored a win at the Financial Times (FT) Responsible Business Education Awards 2022. SMU is the only Singaporean university to be acknowledged at this category of the Awards, which recognises the best teaching cases published in the past three years with sustainability and climate change as key learning objectives.

  • These are the research findings of the 42nd round of quarterly release for the DBS-SKBI Singapore Index of Inflation Expectations (SInDEx) Survey at the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics (SKBI), Singapore Management University (SMU).
  • One-year-Ahead headline inflation expectations moderately elevated to 3.2% in December 2021, compared to 3.1% in September 2021. Headline inflation expectations continued its upward trend since September 2020.

The in-person ceremony, which was graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for Finance, was held on SMU campus today with 258 persons in attendance. They include SMU senior management, faculty, guests, graduates, award winners, as well as family of the graduates.

Singapore, 13 December 2021 – A nationwide student study by the Singapore Management University (SMU) has revealed that despite keeping a watch on the number of deaths due to the Covid-19 pandemic, only 5 in 10 Singaporeans are open to discussing end-of-life plans with loved ones.

Titled “Hatch.Match.Despatch.”, the survey involved interviews with 5,186 Singaporeans, conducted by SMU students, about their attitudes and preparations towards the circle of life, from hatch (birth) to match (marriage) to despatch (death).

Singapore, 24 November (Wednesday), 2021 – In the latest Annual Report (January – September 2021) released by Singapore Management University’s Pro Bono Centre (PBC), the percentage of cases seen at the Centre’s legal clinic which were related to Covid-19 issues was 11.1%, compared to 8.5% during the same period last year.
