SINGAPORE, 29 May 2026 – Finan, a leading Vietnamese financial technology company serving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), today announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Singapore Management University (SMU). The MOU establishes a framework to launch an International Internship Program for SMU students at Finan and to advance joint research on artificial intelligence (AI) applications in fintech for SMEs across Southeast Asia.
The MOU establishes a formal framework for cooperation across training, recruitment and the development of technology talent. Its centerpiece is the International Internship Program, which will place SMU students at Finan and run alongside a series of joint workshops and professional exchanges focused on AI research and applications in fintech for SMEs.
The agreement strengthens academic and industry ties between Vietnam and Singapore, supports the development of high-quality human capital and accelerates cross-border innovation in Southeast Asia.
A Strategic Framework
Under the MOU, Finan and SMU will work together across two key pillars:
- International Internship Program: SMU students will join Finan and contribute directly to live projects in product development, data, AI and fintech operations.
- Talent development: Structured recruitment, training and career pathways for the next generation of fintech and technology professionals in the region.

“Signing this MOU in Singapore alongside our national leaders carries deep meaning for Finan,” said Bui Hai Nam, CEO of Finan. “Partnering with SMU, one of Asia's premier universities, reflects our long-term commitment to investing in people and knowledge. The future of fintech depends not only on technology but on a new generation of professionals who think globally, understand the region and can put AI to work. This program gives SMU students a front-row seat to a fast-growing fintech and brings world-class perspectives into our company.”
“Vietnam is one of the most dynamic fintech markets in Southeast Asia. Working with Finan gives our students hands-on exposure to how AI is reshaping financial services for SMEs and expands their professional networks across borders,” said Prasanthi Guda, Acting Director of Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Career Centre, Singapore Management University.
