On 2 October 2025, Singapore’s ChemT Biotechnology and China’s Zhejiang Polar Code Technology were named Grand Final winners of the 12th Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition (LKYGBPC), with ChemT Biotechnology winning the Chancellor’s Cup for Beta Innovation, and Zhejiang Polar Code clinching the Chancellor’s Cup for Infinity Impact. Another 15 university-affiliated start-ups were also declared winners across various categories.
Shirley Wong, Chief Judge and Chairperson of the 12th LKYGBPC Advisory Committee, who is also SMU’s Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) Entrepreneur-in-Residence, said that this year’s entries showcased the grit and vision of young entrepreneurs tackling global challenges. SMU President Professor Lily Kong highlighted the contributions of over 100 students involved in organising the competition, noting that their roles demonstrated how SMU connects global deep-tech startups with student talent, fostering partnerships and creating pathways to real-world opportunities.
