Students from SMU’s School of Computing and Information Systems have developed Interstellar, which won the top prize at Dell InnovateFest 2025 on 29 September 2025. Interstellar uses bots to find Singaporean youths on online platforms showing anxiety or depression, and connect them to the Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH). Just as how objects in space float aimlessly in the darkness, people facing mental health issues can sometimes find themselves adrift, not knowing how to get out of their situation, said SMU student Isaiah Chia. The SMU team behind Interstellar comprises Saurabh Maskara, Kendrick Poon, Isaiah Chia, Arin Mak, Kevin Tan and Ryan Bangras.
