SMU students graduating this year will be the first cohort to receive a new Co-Curricular Transcript under the university’s updated system. This transcript showcases students’ co-curricular participation which highlights soft skills in addition to their academic achievements. SMU will also begin offering lifelong career guidance and support to all graduates and alumni starting May 1. SMU Provost Professor Alan Chan announced this at the university’s Co-Curricular Activities Forum on Tuesday (April 15). He stated that from May 1, SMU will provide lifelong career support to all graduates and alumni, helping them build confidence during times of global economic uncertainty or personal career transitions, with access to all relevant resources. The university will offer career services to alumni, such as networking events to expand connections, access to job resources, and building bridges between alumni and industry. These efforts aim to ensure that graduates remain competitive and adaptable at every stage of their careers. Graduating SMU student Timothy Lua, specialising in Information Systems shared how the system transcript will be a great addition to show his prospective employers in his job interviews.
