Unafraid of taking an unconventional path, focused on helping small businesses to digitalise

Inspired by his grandfather, who worked tirelessly to run an optical shop, SMU graduate Jonas Dion Chew chose the path of entrepreneurship. During the Covid-19 pandemic, while studying at SMU, he noticed the difficulties faced by local small businesses in harnessing technology. This motivated him to establish a digital marketing company in 2021 to help these companies to digitalise. This July, the newly minted graduate from SMU School of Economics shared that his company had achieved a six-figure revenue in the first year and doubled it in the second year. Jonas has also set a professional goal of selling the company before the age of 32, to pursue his interests in emerging fields, such as software and artificial intelligence.
