SMU School of Information Systems (SIS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Information Systems Audit and Control Association Singapore Chapter (ISACA-SGC) on 12 January 2018 to expand its range of offerings to SIS students.

ISACA-SGC aims to promote and elevate the visibility of IS audit, control and security profession in Singapore.

Under the MOU, SIS may attach students to ISACA-SGC member organisations for internships, SIS and ISACA-SGC member organisations may also provide ideas for SIS students’ capstone projects. Up to five SIS student leaders will receive complimentary student membership from ISACA-SGC which will enable them to be involved in the planning and organising of ISACA-related events within SMU such as seminars and workshops for SMU students, staff and faculty.

In addition, ISACA-SGC are considering providing annual sponsorships in the form of scholarships, diploma prizes and book prizes to SIS students, as well as conduct enrichment talks and workshops for SMU students, staff and faculty.

The ISACA-SGC student group in SMU will benefit from ISCA-SGC’s sponsorship to events it organises, as well as attend the monthly seminar and networking sessions organised by ISACA-SGC.

Professor Pang Hwee Hwa, Dean, SMU School of Information Systems said, “As information technology like Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain are increasingly embedded in business and government functions, we need to strengthen the IT security and governance capabilities correspondingly. This partnership with ISACA-SGC will bring together the expertise in academia and industry to advance the practices of the profession. We also aim to interest and train young talent to enter the profession.”
