Singapore, 28 October 2017 (Saturday) — With Singapore being an international hub for business and financial market activities, the need for talent with financial management and risk management expertise can only increase.
Aspiring to develop future-ready finance professionals, Deloitte and Singapore Management University (SMU) are collaborating to offer a series of Corporate Financial Risk Management Masterclasses to be offered at the SMU Academy from May 2018.
Senior finance professionals are now expected to move beyond their traditional roles as operators and stewards to become strategists and catalysts for change to their organisations. Recognising that increasing market volatility and technology disruption are reshaping functional roles across organisations, the curriculum has been specially designed to help Chief Financial Officers, Treasurers, finance and risk management professionals strengthen their expertise and skills to ride the winds of change.
“We are proud to collaborate with SMU, an established and esteemed institution of higher learning, to offer these masterclasses. We hope to enable finance professionals to be future-ready by strengthening their knowledge in corporate financial risk management through extensive discussions on how technology disruptors may change the future of risk management, and ultimately, the way they operate,” said Mr Benny Koh, Financial and Regulatory Risk Leader, Deloitte Singapore.
“The Masterclasses draw on the expertise of Deloitte and the SMU interactive pedagogy to provide a learning pathway for finance and treasury professionals to develop deep capabilities and drive effective change for businesses. Building on SMU Academy’s Corporate Treasury Risk Management programme launched in May 2017, the Masterclasses aim to raise the bar of professional excellence amid current industry transformation”, said Dr Lim Lai Cheng, Executive Director, SMU Academy.
The SMU-Deloitte Corporate Financial Risk Management Masterclasses consists of a series of two-day workshops that provide a holistic approach to effective financial risk management. The practice oriented curricula include funding strategy, managing liquidity and foreign exchange volatility, and future-proofing treasury with technology. The panel of facilitators from Deloitte and SMU will draw on industry experience to share insights and practical issues. The first series of workshop to be held in May 2018.
Through this collaboration, Deloitte and SMU Academy aim to provide a training platform for financial professionals to deepen their expertise, and build a talent pipeline to position Singapore as a centre of thought leadership in the area of corporate financial risk management.
