A privilege programme to call their own

SMU alumni now have a host of benefits and privileges specially curated to meet their needs and aspirations, thanks to the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR).

The SMU Alumni Privilege Programme, was officially launched on 5th April 2017 at the Smoke & Mirrors rooftop bar at the National Gallery Singapore during the first SMU Industry Night for the year and the first anniversary celebration of SMUpreneurs, a community of SMU alumni entrepreneurs. More than 220 alumni, industry partners, SMU students and staff were present at the event organised in partnership with SMUpreneurs.

In addition to offering SMU alumni with exclusive privileges and discounts at 40 - and counting - participating merchants, the SMU Alumni Privilege Programme also seeks to promote SMU alumni businesses and create more visibility for them amongst the SMU community. 25 of the 40 merchant partners are businesses started or owned by SMU alumni, they include SK Catering Events Pte Ltd, Porcelain Pte Ltd, Milk and Honey Group Pte Ltd, StaffOnDemand and Koh Management Pte Ltd. The remaining 15 partners are external or from SMU, they include SMU Academy, Raffles Medical Group, Under Armour Online Store, Taylor Made Online Store, Far East Hospitality and Frasers Hospitality Pte Ltd.

The privileges include discounts at our alumni bistro B3 and SMU Academy programmes.

To enjoy these privileges, SMU alumni will have to present their virtual SMU alumni card on their mobile phones. The virtual alumni card can be accessed from the SMU Alumni Mobile App, which was soft launched at the same event. The app was jointly developed by OAR and Integrated Information Technology Services, and is available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It possess the following features:

• Personalised virtual card for each alumnus

• Access to a network of alumni businesses and alumni directory

• Information on alumni groups and chapters, SMU Alumni Association, alumni job board, news and events

• Easy registration at events onsite using the virtual alumni card

• Enjoy exclusive privileges at participating merchants and partners

The evening ended with 12 lucky winners walking home with 2D1N stays at various hotels generously sponsored by Far East Hospitality. The prizes were presented by Head of Sales of Far East Hospitality Ms May Lee.

With close to 20,000 alumni and growing, OAR will continue to strengthen our current array of programmes as well as create new initiatives to reach out to our 19,237 alumni worldwide so as to build strong connections that will last a lifetime.”
