Female para athlete suffering from muscular dystrophy wins glory for country

SMU accountancy graduate Nurulasyiqah Mohammad Taha, who won the gold medal for Singapore at this year's global boccia tournament despite suffering from muscular dystrophy, is among those featured in the Singaporean of the Day series, which has been filmed in conjunction with this year's National Day Parade. Nurul picked up the sport after approaching the Singapore National Paralympic Council with a self-initiated plan to raise awareness about muscular dystrophy while she was still studying in SMU. She is now a professional boccia player.
