SMU Professor of Quantitative Finance (Practice) David Lee and Professor of Economics Phang Sock Yong wrote a commentary on the Prime Minister's speech that assured Singaporeans that the Government is working hard to improve the status quo in the housing sector. It discussed the effectiveness of the measures the government has implemented to tackle the issue of housing affordability, such as housing and upgrading grants, and the freeing up of land in Paya Lebar and Tanjong Pagar to alleviate land scarcity concerns.
